About Information management Technology

The Department of Information Management Technology (IMT) was approved by Senate, the highest academic governing body in the university, in March 2004, and had the first student enrollment in the academic session 2004/2005. Now approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC), following the resource visitation of December, 2007, the department has about 400 students. The programme option available in the department for now is Information Technology.

This programme is in compatibility with programme with institutional mission. FUTO is a Technology University, therefore areas of information and communication technology is a bedrock of technology education and their it’s quite compatible with the mission of FUTO. There is evidence that the mandate of the programme will not be duplicated or duplication of work by other department in FUTO. Since there is no other department in FUTO is offering degree course in Software Technology.

Objectives

  • This Department will train students with a Bachelor degree in Software Technology.

  • To train graduate that will be able to design and implement software signs based on sound software engineering principles; in such areas as saver side web development and database driven web applications.

  • To produce graduate who will be proficient in the development of software Engineering Application and be responsible for its management design and implementation.

ABOUT PROJECT MANAGEMENT

dizykif-2kpr2dl.pngProject management is the discipline of planning, organizing, motivating, and controlling resources to achieve specific goals. A project is a temporary endeavor with a defined beginning and end (usually time-constrained, and often constrained by funding or deliverable), undertaken to meet unique goals and objectives, typically to bring about beneficial change or added value. The temporary nature of projects stands in contrast with business as usual (or operations), which are repetitive, permanent, or semi-permanent functional activities to produce products or services. In practice, the management of these two systems is often quite different, and as such requires the development of distinct technical skills and management strategies.

The primary challenge of project management is to achieve all of the project goals and objectives while honoring the preconceived constraints. The primary constraints are scope, time, quality and budget. The secondary —and more ambitious— challenge is to optimize the allocation of necessary inputs and integrate them to meet per-defined objectives. learn more on wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_management

About Maritime Management Technology futo

dizykif-2kpr2dl.png

About the department of Maritime Management

Maritime Management Technology was the first programme in the School of Management Technology. Since 1982, Maritime Management Technology has been offered as an option in the Bachelor of Transport (B.Tech) Transport Management Technology programme. Areas of specialization available to students include; Shipping Management, Maritime Technology and Marine Resource Management. Our philosophy is to create a bridge between management/administration and conventional engineering and technology.

Our department is an appropriate ground for breeding technocrats for the maritime industry, who can give sound advice to management and possess technical know-how but have little knowledge of the management/coordination aspects of the system. Our main objective is to train technocrat-managers who can effectively manage the maritime sub sector of the Nigerian economy. We also aim to provide world-class, cost-effective training for young Nigerians in line with global best practices as well as produce graduates capable of making effective contributions at the lower/middle management cadre to the planning, policy making and management of projects in the Nigerian maritime industry and contributing to the overall development of the sector through joint research, seminars and workshop activities with national and international organizations.
